These late December days often seem to be filled with a barrage of mental items such as: thoughts, feelings, aspirations, frustrations, joy, unhappiness, anger, love, despair, resignations, and all of that stuff.
Where can I find a great soothsayer or a guru of cerebral juice to better come to grips with one of Mother Nature’s many periods of questions and half-answers? Where is that all-knowing oracle of Delphi, who might make everythng crystal clear?
Perhaps, I am not alone in wrestling with these challenging frustrations? Maybe, you, also, are a similar wayfarer on ths life journey?
For the purpose of this argument, I wil assume that the reader can also relate to broader life issues that teachers and philosophers have posed over the past 5,000 years. Imagine that you are an invited guest at an international conference of acclaimed thinkers in old Athens.
Seated in the audience of this attractve, oaken-clad room, you spot on the stage persons like: Plato, Aristotle, Seneca, Marcus Aurelius, Jesus of Bethlehem, Paul of Tarsus, Cicero, Julius Caesar, Confucius, Thomas Aquinas, Lao Tzu, Thomas Aquinas plus more recent stars such as Martin Luther, Diderot, Voltaire, Montesquieu, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, etc.
Many of history’s famous contributors are in attendance this evening. Maybe, your personal issues will be discussed so that the late December blues of yours will be resolved.
Our Personal, and Sometimes, Annoying Situation
Fortunaately, Nature’s most disrupting events do not fall drectly onto our shoulders. “Gott sei Dank” for that blessng! However, unique interpersonal relationships often do challenge our available resources. Inevitable annoyances and dsappointments cross our path on a daily basis.
Internally, every person in our life is having to deal with such personal, inner reactionss plus, also, to the stimuli of present reality. We are, constantly, called upon to respond neatly to mutiple requests. It is no wonder that, sometimes, everyone has a “bad day”.
If I had a magic cure-all to deal with such a world, then this would be the final communique ever emanating from ths source. But, our needs are usually more immedate, and focused on practical and banal questions.
We all have hopes and dreams for the future. What are yours?
Nous avons tous des espoirs et des rêves pour l’avenir. Quels sont les vôtres?
Wir alle haben Hoffnungen und Träume für die Zukunft. Was sind deine?
Todos tenemos esperanzas y sueños para el futuro. ¿Cuáles son los suyos?
У всіх нас є надії та мрії про майбутнє. Які ваші?
U vsikh nas ye nadiyi ta mriyi pro maybutnye. Yaki vashi?
У всех нас есть надежды и мечты о будущем. Какие у вас?
U vsekh nas yest' nadezhdy i mechty o budushchem. Kakiye u vas?
Google Translate has done its best (above) to translate my Englsh phrase into : French, German, Spanish plus Ukrainan and Russian.
May this linguistic simplicity translate into a softer exchange between the peoples of our planet n 2024.
Best regards,
Paul
Post Scriptum: A Good and Better New Year for all of you!
