Korea

Stalin’s efforts in upsetting the socioeconomic balance in this part of the world resulted in a renewed effort by the US government, under the Truman administration, to curtail any territorial gains made by the North Koreans through sending US troops to the region. From my personal point of view, at 10 or 11 years of age, I sadly concluded that the USA would always be at war somewhere. However, I did not share these feelings with anyone although, it became one of the fundamental beliefs instilled in me.

Some of that Korea drama is given below:

Truman MacArthur disagreement – 4-11-1951
General MacArthur’s Point of View 10-04-1950
Good news from Korea 3-02-1951
Chinese Reds were doing well south of the 38th parallel – 5-22-1951
Yanks would like to go home soon, 6-30-1951

At the age of ten or eleven, it never occurred to me that the East-West conflict would continue over the decades to follow.
