As I was finishing my HS training at St-Joseph Boys in early 1957, questions entered my mind as to which HS in the area (Keith Academy, St-Joseph or Lowell High, LHS) might have been the best for me to have attended.
This is a question that I ought to have asked back in the fall of 1953. However, in the summer of 1953, my mother, I believe, had chosen St-Joseph because her beloved father, Paul T. Charbonneau, had attended that school when he was young.
In life, some decisions are made for us because of hard-nose, factual reasons while others fall into our lap because of sentimental choices felt by others. Of course, had I been more inquisitive and proactive at the time as a 14-year-old child, my choice might have been different. In the end, one often does what others expect.
